I have to confess my ignorance of this community. When we were small, we knew Bearys men selling fish carried on bycycles, selling fire crackers for weddings and other festivals. We recognised their women folk by the ornaments they used to wear even at home. It is heartening to note that the beneficiaries of this scholarships are mainly girls. Irresptive of religion, we need all the women in India to be educated as that will have good impact on the children. From time to time, I read about this community through Daijiworld. I am told that one of the oldest mosques was built by them in Mangalore in 644 AD. Hope this community will bring happiness to the society in the years to come.

Beary Association deserves appreciation, as a small group its effort for uplifting the community educationally and economically is praise worth. The listed priorities by Mr. Mohamed Ali can be implemented in each mahal committees if we have unity guts and proper plan.

Let us accept that today’s Indian Muslim is fairly conscientious and also assertive about his national as well religious identity. Unfortunately, the image that has been hyped is that of his/her being illiterate, poor, aggrieved and/or an extremist. There is a major flaw in this approach. And stepping into school and achieving a little success there, carries a lot of importance for the ones who happen to be playing a major role in chalking out a new path for their generation. Their family and community members must certainly be credited for this. This revolutionary change in the mindset of Indian Muslims at the grassroots cannot be ignored. The image that they have set for themselves is quite different from the stereotyped image still retained in certain circles.
I congratulate Bearys' Welfare Association Bangalore for recognizing the deserving students and inspiring them to do better. I wish more corporate like Wipro come out with schools and schemes for the minorities in this region. Jai Hind!

Heartily congratulations to Bearys Welfare Association on awarding the scholarships to the deserved students. Your achievements are very impressive and certainly a beacon to students as a part and community as whole. Certainly your this achievements will have very strong motivating effect on our younger generation. The social service area is so wide that all social orzanizations can play their part. Short and long term plans should be implemented by community organizations

Feed the needy, Help a poor girl to get married, Educate a boy, build a house to home less, Help a needy patient ,build a toilet even if it is public usable, support some one to get employed is short term plan.

The long term plan is to get the community members highly educated, target top level employment opportunities, make best use of resources for economic development, engage women folks too in education , strike peace deals and develop goodwill with the majority community, adopt religion to practice rather than preach, be moderate in approach towards problem solving and not extreme, inculcate discipline among the community members, make best use of the technology and modern education, be broad minded and not dispute others faiths ,fight for the community rights, social justice and against discrimination of all kind etc.,….
Getting a positive publicity for the cause they believe in, is not a sin and it should be encouraged and given wide publicity

Well done Beary's Welfare association for distributing scholarship for needy students. On the other hand Jamayuthl Falah, having wide network through out DK/Udupi which is focusing the area in which we are behind(Education).Same way an organized network need to be established by BWA.Simply sharing the stage with politicians for a photo call not bring any good or benefit to Bearys.
