Moodbidri, Nov 14: Jnanpith awardee and well-known Kannada writer, Chandrashekhar Kambar, said that there is a need to make collective efforts towards enriching Kannada language, literature, and culture, and thereby conserve the intellectual richness of Kannada. He was delivering the valedictory address at the three-day ‘Alva’s Nudisiri’ festival of Kannada literature and culture held here, on Sunday November 13. He strongly felt that ‘Nudisiri’ has been making rich contributions towards this end.

Kambar observed that Indian heritage and culture had, since times immemorial, been guiding the entire world. He analyzed that this preeminence came under the clouds because of the invasion the country by foreign forces. “This is a golden opportunity to bring back the past glory by creatively building back a sense of being a Kannadiga and feeling proud about this fact,” he stressed.

Kambara felt that there is a need to drive away the influence of English language, which had gained more prominence after the country gained independence, and stressed the need to overthrow this language. “In my opinion, most of the poets in Kannada have turned themselves away from dreaming and visualization, and corporate culture has overtaken their minds. Creative richness should fill their minds, and awareness about the basic principle of life, relationship, need to bloom,” he observed, and wished that minds which are totally dedicated to Kannada will be able to enrich Kannada in the coming days. He wanted the government to extend assistance for organizing Nudisiri.

President of the fest, Dr M M Kalburgi, said that he was satisfied with the discussions, debates, and interactions which took place during the course of Nudisiri.

Chairman of Alva’s Education Foundation, Dr M Mohan Alva, delivered introductory address. He   revealed plans to hold decennial celebrations of Nudisiri on a global scale. Dr Alva appealed to everyone to extend their support in organizing the ‘World Alva’s Nudisiri’.
