Udupi, Aug 21: Udupi has taken a significant step forward with the inauguration of its first fertility clinic at Adarsha Hospital, in partnership with Cloudnine Fertility Hospital, Bengaluru. The new facility was officially opened on Wednesday, August 21.

The ceremony was led by Sri Vishwapriyatheertha Swamiji of Sri Adamaru Math, Udupi, who offered his blessings and shared insights on the importance of addressing infertility.

"Cloudnine and Adarsha Hospital, together, represent a crucial step forward. Infertility can arise from both visible and invisible factors. While some believe that infertility is a divine intervention, we must also consider lifestyle and dietary influences. In a world where the population is growing rapidly, it's essential to focus on nurturing children who will positively impact society. Adarsha Hospital's doctors treat patients with great dedication," he remarked.

Kaup MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty praised Dr Chandrashekar for his unwavering commitment to medicine. "Dr. Chandrashekar's journey from a modest clinic to a leading figure in the medical field is truly inspiring. His work is a beacon of hope for many, and I wish him continued success," Shetty said.

Dr Anusha G P, senior consultant in Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and IVF, elaborated on the treatment options available at the new clinic. "Many misconceptions about infertility exist due to a lack of proper guidance. Modern science offers solutions for every challenge. Infertility is not solely a women's issue; it affects couples equally. In India, about 30 percent of the population faces infertility issues. While pregnancy is a natural process, science steps in when nature falls short," she explained.

Dr Chandrashekar, medical director of Adarsha Hospital, added, “Infertility affects approximately 11-12% of couples. Both partners can contribute to infertility issues. Cloudnine Hospital’s expertise in this field will be invaluable, and our clinic will provide initial treatments with further consultations available at their Bangalore facility.”

The event began with a prayer led by hospital staff. Dr G S Chandrashekar, medical director, welcomed the guests and provided an overview of the clinic. Reema Menezes delivered the vote of thanks, and Anushree Acharya served as the master of ceremonies.

Adarsha Hospital, a prominent medical institution under Dr G S Chandrashekar’s leadership, is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including critical care units with ventilator and dialysis support. The new fertility clinic aims to enhance healthcare services in Udupi by offering specialised consultations and infertility treatments.

The inauguration was attended by senior Consultants Dr Damayanthi and Dr Ranjitha S Nayak, CEO, Vimala Chandrashekar, as well as students, staff, and other dignitaries.
