Celebrating compassion: Carmel School Moodbidri celebrates World Humanitarian Day 2024

Mangaluru, Aug 21: Carmel School Moodbidri observed World Humanitarian Day with a heartwarming and meaningful celebration on August 19. The event began with a solemn prayer service, invoking blessings for the noble cause.

The chief guest, Prakash J Shettigar, founder of the Spoorthi Special School and training center in Moodbidri, graced the occasion with his presence. Sr Maria Gracilda A C the principal warmly welcomed him with a token of appreciation with a beautiful flower pot.

The program featured a series of inspiring performances by the students. A welcome dance set the tone for the day, followed by a theme dance and a mime show that eloquently depicted the essence of humanity. These performances resonated deeply with the audience highlighting the core values of compassion and empathy.

In a touching outreach initiative, students from Grade 4 visited the Spoorthi Special School, spending quality time with the children there and also gave food items and stationary. As heartfelt gesture of humanity, Carmel School generously donated Rs 2000 to Spoorthi Special School. This visit was a testament to the school's commitment to fostering a sense of responsibility and care for those in need.

The chief guest Shettigar, addressed the students emphasizing the importance of World Humanitarian Day. He poignantly remarked on the rarity of genuine humanity in today’s world, urging the students to cultivate and cherish this vital quality. In her address, Sr Maria Gracilda AC, the principal, passionately emphasized the profound importance of humanity in daily lives. She eloquently reminded the gathered that humanity is not just a concept, but a way of life that must be reflected in actions every single day.

The celebration was a powerful reminder of the impact of small acts of kindness and the importance of nurturing a humanitarian spirit in every individual.
