Mangaluru: Kulur bridge repair work leads to major traffic congestion

Mangaluru, Aug 22: Repair work on the old Kulur bridge began on Wednesday, leading to severe traffic disruptions between Nanthoor and Suratkal throughout the day. Motorists and the public faced significant inconvenience.

Traffic on the old Kulur bridge has been temporarily halted to allow for asphalt paving and plastering of the bridge's underside. Once the repair work on the old bridge is completed, asphalt finishing work will also be carried out on the new bridge, starting Wednesday night.

Since the work is being conducted during the day, vehicles are using only one bridge for both directions, causing significant traffic congestion.

    We hope they speed up the work on the new bridge and complete it as fast as possible rather than waiting for the next election for the newly elected to open the bridge.

    Awarding new bridge construction to a Maharashtra company who are linked to the highway minister are getting the benifits in the name of the delay. Local administration totallt tied hands like situation to counter these Andhra, Maharashtra contracters lobby. The local administration will wake up with the local useless politicians once the old bridge totally collapses. Our local politicians are fit for Bangla, Pakistan,fire statements and divide the community.

    Smart City??? Mallikatte road leading to Bendur, no foot path (Children's life at risk). Waiting for bridge repair till the bridges become unusable. Roads leading into Mangalore from Hassan & Chikmagalur are dugup in May to be repaired after September, any sense? Who is smart in the "Smart City".

    When such works take place the so called authorities should arrange for alternative road. So that emergency vehicles will have no traffic problems.
