Bantwal: Review of rural development programme expenditures underway

Bantwal, Aug 27: In a bid to enhance transparency and effectiveness in rural development programmes, a comprehensive review of expenditure is set to begin.

Zilla Panchayat planning director Jayaram announced that precise details regarding the expenditure of funds will be gathered to determine the amount saved and the reasons behind these savings.

The review will take place at the Taluk Panchayat Hall on Tuesday, where a public audit of taluk panchayat and various departmental expenditures will be conducted. Jayaram emphasised the importance of this review for ensuring accountability and transparency in program implementation.

The audit aims to provide clear insights into how funds have been utilised, focusing on project goals, released budgets, and actual expenditures. Departments under scrutiny include Health, Education, Social Welfare, CDDPO, Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary Services, Panchayat Raj, Water Supply, and Sanitation.

Taluk Panchayat executive officer Sachin Kumar highlighted that significant development activities have been undertaken over the past year. The review meeting was chaired by taluk panchayat administrative officer A Manjunath.

Additional information was provided by various officials including manager Prakash, Panchayat Raj engineering division's AEE Taranath Salian, CDDPO Mumtaaz, Horticulture assistant director Joe Pradeep D’Souza, district education officer Manjunathan, health officer Dr Ashok Kumar Rai, veterinary officer Dr Avinash Bhat, and taluk panchayat members Chandravati and Kushalappa.

The meeting was welcomed by taluk panchayat EO Sachin Kumar, with Chandravati offering the vote of thanks.
