Mangaluru, Aug 28: The CCB police have arrested two individuals who were involved in the transportation and sale of the banned drug MDMA. The police seized 15 grams of MDMA during the operation.
Based on credible information, the Mangaluru CCB police learned that the accused were planning to sell MDMA to the public and students in Mangaluru city. They intercepted a two-wheeler near KC Road in Talapady, Mangaluru city.
The accused, Abdul Salam alias Salam (30) and Suraj Rai alias Anki (26), both residents of Puchit Bail House, Badaje Post, Manjeshwar, Kasargod district, Kerala, were taken into custody. The police seized 15 grams of MDMA worth Rs 75,000, two mobile phones, a digital weighing scale, and a Dio two-wheeler from their possession. The total value of the seized items is estimated to be Rs 1,65,000. A case has been registered at Ullal police station in connection with the incident.
Among the accused, Abdul Salam has a prior case related to drug use registered at the Manjeshwar police station, while Suraj Rai has a similar case registered at the Ullal police station.
The accused were reportedly purchasing MDMA from Kerala and selling it to the public and students in the city for illegal profit. It is suspected that several others are involved in this drug trafficking network, and efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend them.
The operation to bust the MDMA trafficking and sale was led by CCB unit ACP Manoj Kumar Naik, with the assistance of police inspectors Shyam Sundar H M, PSIs Narendra, and other CCB personnel.
