Pitroda to Mentor Kerala on Development

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 16 (IANS): Kerala Wednesday appointed inventor, entrepreneur and policymaker Sam Pitroda as mentor for Kerala's development plans.

Pitroda is currently advisor to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on public information infrastructure and innovations.

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy told reporters here that he met Pitroda earlier this week in Mumbai and he agreed to accept the role of mentor.

"I placed this before the cabinet today (Wednesday) and it has been cleared. He will be providing his services free of cost. He is expected to come to the state very soon to discuss how to speed up the state's development plans," said Chandy.
