Mangaluru, Aug 30: A young girl was reportedly harassed and assaulted by a gang of youths near a private hotel in the city. The incident allegedly occurred on August 25 when the girl visited the hotel with a close friend.
The girl claims that while using the washroom, she encountered a young man inside the women's facility. When she confronted him, a group of youths began behaving indecently towards her. Despite raising the issue with the hotel staff, the group left without any repercussions.
As the girl and her driver attempted to leave the hotel, a biker blocked their car in the parking area. A minor collision occurred as the car was reversed, leading to an argument. Around 20 youths reportedly gathered, harassed the girl, and assaulted her. The gang also allegedly threatened her life.
The girl filed a complaint with the Barke police on the same day, but no action has been taken even after four days. The hotel management's negligence, including the lack of CCTV coverage in the parking area, has further complicated the situation. The girl suspects the involvement of influential individuals, which may be hindering police action. She has shared her ordeal with the media.
