Udupi: Women defraud three in Rs 3.60 crore fake trading scam

Udupi, Sep 5: A complaint has been filed against a group of women for allegedly defrauding three individuals in a fake trading scam worth Rs 3.60 crores in Udupi.

The complainant, Linet Sophia D'Mello (44), along with her husband and a relative, was convinced by Vidya Someshwar, an employee of S P Capitals Trading, that investing in the company would generate substantial profits. The victims were persuaded to transfer money in phases.

Between September 19, 2019, and August 29, 2024, a total of Rs 3,60,67,000 was deposited into Vidya Someshwar's account based on these promises. However, no returns or profits have been provided, leading to allegations of fraud and breach of trust.

A complaint has been registered at the Udupi CEN police station for further investigation.
