Inquiry Ordered into Nizamuddin Station Accident

New Delhi, Nov 18 (IANS): Indian Railways has ordered an inquiry into the accident that led to the horrific death of a middle-aged at Delhi's Nizamuddin railway station, an official said.

"An inquiry has been set up and the report will be given in a week," a Northern Railway spokesperson told IANS Friday.

Bhagwan Porwal, a fruit-seller from Rajasthan's Kota city, slipped and fell between the platform and footboard of the Indore-bound Intercity Express Wednesday night. He was trapped there for almost two hours, and later died while on way to hospital due to blood loss.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police B.S. Gurjar said they did their best to save the man.

"We did our best as much as we could, it is very unfortunate that we could not save him," Gurjar told IANS.
