Kundapur, Sep 5: A tragic incident has occurred in the village of Halnadu in Kundapur taluk, where a minor student took his own life by jumping into a stream after being disheartened over an engineering seat in Bengaluru.

The deceased, Supraj Shetty (17), son of Shivaprasad Shetty of Halnadu village, had been pursuing his PU studies at a private English medium school in Kundapur. It was reported that Supraj Shetty had hoped to study medicine, but he was allotted an engineering seat in Bengaluru, which he was reportedly unhappy with. His family had packed his clothes and belongings to send him to Bangalore after advising him.

Everything seemed in order, and Supraj was expected to leave for Bengaluru on Thursday, September 5. However, on September 4 evening, his slippers and mobile phone were found by the stream near his home in Halnadu.

Despite the family's concerns and a local search, there was no immediate result. On Thursday afternoon, the boy’s body was discovered in the same stream. A case has been registered at the Kundapur rural police station.

Very tragic and sad too.One should not simply be disgusted because of not getting a wanted seat at first attempt.Thats what one learn first.Try again ,put hard efforts. When still not successful try in other field ,may be there one has better chance.Parents also try to help children to have their way ,but not forcing to choose something else. Now parents must be crying ,feeling sad till end of their lives. They lost a son ,not some expert.Hope his soul may rest in peace.Heartfelt sympathy to his family.

"If you didn’t get a medical seat this year, you could have taken coaching and tried again for the NEET exams next year. But by committing suicide, you have plunged your parents into a sea of sorrow. What you did was not right. Your parents will carry the grief of your death for the rest of their lives.”

@joel,,,,,“That boy didn’t get a seat in medical college, so his parents must have told him to join engineering. But the plan to commit suicide was his own. If he didn’t get a seat this year, he would have tried for a medical seat next year. That was my question. Please read the comments properly.”
