Mangaluru, Sep 6: In a world where wisdom guides and knowledge inspire, St Agnes School joyfully celebrated Teachers' Day on September 5, in the school hall, honouring the pillars of education who light the way for future generations. The teachers were warmly welcomed with a graceful shower of petals.
The event commenced with a unique prayer scene set in heaven, where blessings were sought from Venerable Mother Veronica, the founder of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation, and Mother Mary Aloysia, the second superior general of the Apostolic Carmel Congregation and the founder of St Agnes School. This symbolic act represented receiving wisdom and guidance from these revered figures for the teachers on this occasion.

The celebration unfolded with a series of captivating performances. The audience was treated to a dynamic Tutting Dance, followed by a graceful Manipuri welcome dance by the younger students, setting a lively and festive tone. A profound reflection on the significance of Teachers' Day emphasized the crucial role of educators in nurturing young minds. A unique Still Dance and a spirited Entertainment dance featuring Tamil songs highlighted the creativity and talent of the students. A moving dance drama by the 5th-grade students showcased the joy of learning and the strength required to overcome challenges, emphasizing the essential role of teachers in this journey. The celebration culminated in an energetic Bollywood dance, and a a heartfelt gratitude song, creating a fitting tribute to the invaluable role of educators in shaping lives.
The program's standout moment was when teacher Reena, a faculty member at St Agnes School CBSE , was acknowledged as the president of the event. Welcomed warmly by the principal, Sr Maria Sarika AC, she was presented with a potted plant symbolizing growth and gratitude. During her speech, teacher Reena emphasized the deep importance of Teachers' Day, highlighting that teaching is a mutual process involving both educators and students.
A set of competitions titled "Innovate and Inspire" was arranged for teachers in honour of Teachers' Day and to mark the school's Diamond Jubilee year. The prize distribution ceremony for these competitions took place on this auspicious occasion. The event wrapped up with a sincere vote of thanks, acknowledging all who contributed to the success of the celebration.
Following the school-led celebrations, the PTA Executive Committee members hosted a special Teachers' Day program in the afternoon. They introduced an engaging retro theme , creating a vibrant atmosphere. Teachers and parents dressed in charming retro outfits, adding a nostalgic touch to the event. the retro theme not only brought a sense of fun and creativity to the Teachers' Day program but also fostered a deeper connection between the past and present, reminding everyone of the enduring value of history and memories.
The event commenced with a cordial welcome by Liston Derric D’Souza, vice president of PTA, who extended a warm reception to the joint secretary of the Apostolic Carmel institution, Dr Sr Maria Roopa A.C, the joint secretary of St Agnes Institutions with a potted flowering plant. He also graciously greeted the principal, Sr Maria Sarika, vice principal, Sr Meena Fernandes, with floral bouquets.

The program featured a captivating dance performance set to a medley of retro hits, transporting everyone back to the vibrant past. This was followed by a series of engaging games that brought cheer and camaraderie among the participants. A humorous skit added to the entertainment, filling the hall with laughter and joy. A fusion of songs further enlivened the celebration, showcasing a blend of old and new melodies which was followed by palatial high tea. Parents conveyed heartfelt gratitude to all teachers for nurturing students and fostering their growth within the school's environment. The PTA Executive Committee members presented a memento to each educator as a symbol of gratitude. It was a heartfelt moment, one that underscored the strong sense of community and appreciation within the school.
In her address, principal Sr Maria Sarika AC expressed gratitude for the successful program, acknowledging the divine for its support. She lauded Dr Sr Maria Roopa AC for her unwavering assistance and commended the students of grades 9 and 5 for their thoughtful contributions, creative performances, and heartfelt messages. Additionally, the Principal extended appreciation to the PTA members for their devoted efforts, which reflected both deep care and meticulous planning. She praised the flawless execution of each segment, underscoring the robust support and coordination provided by the PTA and commended their initiative in introducing a theme-based celebration. She conveyed heartfelt thanks to the teachers for their enthusiastic involvement and unwavering commitment.
The event concluded with the recognition and honouring of the winners, and a vote of thanks delivered by the teachers' representative, Neesha Fernandes. She expressed gratitude to the parents for their enthusiastic participation and effort in organizing such a memorable celebration, despite their busy schedules.
