Udupi, Nov 19: The Foundation stone-laying ceremonies of the 27th, 28th, and 29th projects of Mandavi Real Estate and Developers were held on Friday November 18, in the respective plots. The projects were blessed by Fr Godfrey Saldanha, priest of Neermarga Mangalore church, and Fr Philip Neri Aranha, priest of Kallianpur church.

Three new projects, ‘Mandavi Gokul’, ‘Mandavi Greens’, and ‘Mandavi Trade center’ have been newly taken up by Mandavi Developers, the first two being residential complexes, and the last one, a full-fledged commercial Complex.

Fr Godfrey Saldanha thanked God and Mother Mary for giving him the opportunity to bless three projects of Mandavi Developers at a stretch on the same day.

"Jerry Vincent Dias has created a record by launching three projects simultaneously. The buildings that have come up under ‘Mandavi’ banner in Udupi and Manipal sparkle like stars in the sky. The new projects will add to the tourism potentials of the city by contributing to the beauty of the city. May more such projects be undertaken by him in the future. I am very happy to note that Jerry is executing his new project, ‘Mandavi Gokul’ in the land of Lord Krishna," he said.

He also quoted the words of Mother Teresa that one’s life would be incomplete without providing gifts and services to the society. Fr Godfrey also requested jerry not to stop keeping welfare of others in mind, and doing good to the others, irrespective of the problems he might face in the course of doing so. “This will prove that you are the true follower of Christ,” he advised.

Jerry Vincent Dias said that state and central governments make promises of coming up with the low-cost houses but till now not a single house has been built for the needy.

"If a person wants to buy a house or flat he has to pay tax for each and everything. He has to go through different kinds of taxes while building a house or flat of his own. The taxes may be in the form of service tax or Vat etc," he said.

He further said, "The rich are able to afford the taxes, but for the middle class it is really hard. In India people face lots of problems while trying to own a house. When the NDA government was in power they had a project wherein if a person develops land measuring more than one acre with a house of 1400 sq ft, then the property would be tax-free. But now the project has been dumped.

"Nearly 30 percent of the cost has to be paid to the government in the form of different taxes. Government gives subsidy to industries, but why can't it bring any scheme for builders to develop lands and give them to the needy, specially the middle and lower-class people?"

He urged the government to look into this matter seriously and come up with a solution.

Fr Godfrey, Fr Philip along with Jerry Dias, Molly Dias, Glen and Jaison, released the brochures relating to these three projects.

Fr Philip wished Jerry and his entire his team all success, and that the projects they have undertaken will be completed within the time frame.

Jerry Dias welcomed the gathering and proposed vote of thanks. Richard Dias and Frederick D’Souza compered the programme.

On this occasion, architects of the three projects, Shivaram of ‘Mandavi Gokul’, Prakash Simon of Simon Associates, who is the architect for ‘Mandavi Trade Center’, and Shalini Suresh of Sys Creators relating to ‘Mandavi Greens’ were felicitated on the occasion.

Jerry reiterated that he is interested in constructing a complex at reasonable rates for the middle income group people hailing from the country and abroad at Vidyarathna Nagar in Manipal in near future.

Very true Dear Jerry Dias, apart from Government, big Builders like you should start giving back some portion of your accumulated profits at least to your own community like Parsees do. You might have heard about your own community member in Bangalore being a NRI constructed a beautiful road at a cost of four crores and devoted the same to nation. I did not find yet any other good Samaritans like him in any other religion till date if I have not mistaken
