Bantwal: Newly married bride dies in ghastly car accident, groom seriously injured

Bantwal, Sep 7: A tragic car accident claimed the life of a newly married woman, while her husband sustained serious injuries after their car jumped the divider when the driver lost control at Talapady on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru Road on Saturday September 7.

Manasa, the deceased, was the wife of Aneesh Krishna, a resident of Odyadagaya near Perne. Aneesh Krishna, who was seriously injured in the accident, has been admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru.

The couple was traveling from B C Road towards Mangaluru when their Alto car veered to the opposite side of the road after the driver lost control, colliding with a KSRTC bus heading towards B C Road from Mangaluru.

The car was badly mangled due to the impact of the collision, and the woman died on the spot. Traffic on the road was disrupted for some time.

The couple had been married on September 5 at the Denthadka Temple. They were returning to Aneesh’s in-laws' house after visiting the temple to settle dues. Both were reportedly working in a private company in Mangaluru.

Melkar police visited the scene and are investigating the incident further.

    The road is very bad from BC road to Mangalore due to flyover work and widening the national high way road. On 4th September near Kalladka while walking towards KT hotel I too fell down on the foot path due to unfinished ground work luckily no rods were there above the ground.Otherwise I would have seriously injured. I advice the motorists especially light vehicles like Alto should not over speed their vehicles. I feel sorry for that newly married bride who succumbed to death due to bad roads. I pray her husband who is seriously injured to get well soon. I wish he will recover soon. May her soul rest in peace. Om shanthi..

    Yesterday afternoon when I learnt about this accident and death I experienced extreme sadness and pain. Now hoping that the boy somehow comes out of danger and fully recovers. But the scar of this accident in which he lost his wife (married just 3 days ago) will remain forever. I pray to the Almighty to give strength to both the families and their relatives to cope up with this loss.

    Extremely tragic and unfortunate 😔; may her soul rest in peace! IMO; our newly done highways are like "race tracks" without commensurate safety features, where the normal human tendency is to push the gas pedal beyond extreme limits; there's a proven phenomenon called "HIGHWAY HYPNOSIS", which can occur on straight roads leading to catastrophic consequences! High time NHAI puts checks and measures in place to avoid fatal accidents; already we have the discussion of the highest fatalities in RTAs! Moreover most such ghastly accidents occur while going to or returning from holy places!! 😔 😔!!Please note that this is a very personal opinion based on my knowledge & perception!! Kindly do your own research and analysis!

    It is sad she died. Road conditions are so bad, driving is not easy. Moreover most of the drivers do not know why the road is marked with continuous white lines, broken white lines etc. Bike riders ride on the shoulder of the roads thinking this side is for them.

    800cc cars, rikshaw and commuting 2 wheelers only fit to use in service roads but in india most of the highways lacks service roads.

    The road system is very bad in India. After 75 years also India using the British made road (two way traffic on single road ). It shows India is still remain a poor country. India produces high level Engineers and exporting to U.S., U.K. , Europe and middle east country where they get good chance to earn and lead a good life. India knows only to collect taxes and charges. In return Indian get big O from Govt.
