Udupi, Sep 11: A 22-year-old man from Shivalli village was arrested on Wednesday, September 11 in connection with the harassment of a female student at a hostel in Manipal.
An unknown individual had gained unauthorized access to a metric-based hostel for backward classes in Ananth Nagar, Manipal, at around 2:15 AM on September 1. The intruder allegedly harassed a female student who was sleeping near a window in the hostel room.
The investigation, led by police inspector Devaraj T V, with assistance from PSI Raghavendra, PSI Akshay Kumari, ASI Vivek, Imran, Prasanna, Raghu, Manjunath, and Jyothi, resulted in the identification and arrest of the accused, Naveen Nayak, near Indrali Railway Station.
It was revealed during the investigation that Nayak had been involved in a similar case of disturbance in Puttur, Udupi district, in 2023. The case related to this earlier incident is still pending at Udupi City Police Station and is under judicial review.
Naveen Nayak is now in custody, and the investigation is in progress.
