Mangalore, Nov 20: The 45th Annual Sports meet of St Aloysius Evening P U College was inaugurated at St Aloysius High Ground here on Sunday November 20 .

Professor Manohar Vincent Serrao , the vice principal St Aloysius Evening College was the chief guest of the event.

The sports day began with the march past. Fr Elvis Lewis SJ Administrator, Prof John Edward D’silva Principal, Naveen Kumar and  Usha A J Physical directors were also present on the occasion and later solemn ceremony of hoisting the Aloysian flag to mark the 45 Annual Sports Meet, followed by college anthem.

Teams were introduced to chief guest by Naveen kumar Physical director of St Aloysius P U College. Blanet Paul welcomed the gathering.

The Sports meet was inaugurated through a symbolic ceremony of the tourch run and lighting the sports urn. Professor Manohar Vincent Serrao , the vice principal St Aloysius Evening College in his address, encouraged the students that failure is the stepping stone for success and described the sports meet as an impressive event. He then declared the sports meet open.

Fr Joseph Montheiro SJ, director of Ladies Hostel presided over the programme. He told the students that sound mind is a sound body. A student’s life is a golden life and they have to involve themselves in each and every aspect of academics. Students took part in oath taking ceremony to abide by all that is honest and truthful in sports. James D’Souza proposed the vote thanks and inaugural ceremony was concluded.

The valedictory ceremony was held at 3.15pm. Fr Elvis Lewis SJ presided over the function and he gave away the prizes to the winners. Alwyn D’Souza welcomed and Metilda Pais delivered the vote of thanks.
