St Aloysius Deemed to be University, SAC Alumni Association (SACAA) fete MP Capt Brijesh Chowta

Mangaluru, Sep 12: Capt Brijesh Chowta was felicitated on being elected as the member of Parliament for Dakshina Kannada. Capt Chowta did his pre-university studies and BSc at St Aloysius College.

Fr Melwin Pinto SJ, the Rector of St Aloysius Institutions, Fr Praveen Martis SJ, the vice-chancellor of St Aloysius Deemed to be University, Sunil Kunder – the president of SACAA, Shilpa D'Souza – the IDO of St Aloysius Institutions were present. Registrars, Dr Alwyn Dsa and Dr Ronald Nazareth were also present. Fr Prashanth Madtha SJ was the guest of honour. Fr Madtha was the principal when Capt Chowta studied at St Aloysius College.

In his speech, the MP expressed gratitude to Fr Prashanth Madtha and all his teachers for their contribution in his formation. He said his teachers were so good that he venerated them. He said that he was fortunate to get educated at St Aloysius College. He spoke about the inspiration he got from the former defense minister, the late George Fernandes, who was also an Aloysian. He encouraged the student crowd to make best use of their time during the college days and develop innovative thinking to contribute to the success of the society and nation.

Speaking about the cultural and social values about the district, he emphasised on the need to uphold our values of brotherhood and not fall a prey to the false narratives. He vouched on the communal harmony in Dakshina Kannada and stressed on the need to take pride in encouraging harmony, irrespective of the false narratives.

During his speech, Fr Prashanth Madtha congratulated Capt Brijesh Chowta and wished him well. He expressed his joy in seeing the success of his student. He told that every Aloysian should aspire to learn and progress as much as possible during their tenure as students.
