Mangalore: Moily Launches Revamped Devadiga Community Website

Mangalore, Nov 20: Union corporate affairs minister Dr Veerappa Moily on Sunday November 20 relaunched www.devadiga.com, the Devadiga community website that was founded ten years ago by visionary B G Mohandas. The event was held at Devadiga Samaja Bhavana, Mannagudde.
The website has been relaunched with a new look, with the aim of bringing the Devadiga community together on a single platform. Moily launched the website on a tablet PC.
Moily in his address lauded the Devadiga community for their service to the society and said that the community that is known to serve temples is today making waves in every field and contributing positively in the nation-building process.
He extended his full support to the community and especially to the website, and urged 'Team Devadiga' to continue their good work. By relaunching the website, the community has asserted its own identity, he added. He also advised the team behind the relaunch of the portal to work hard and wished them all success in their mission.
'Team Devadiga' comprises a group of enthusiastic and energetic youngsters who have come forward to take up the mantle of devadiga.com to the next level.
B G Mohandas welcomed the gathering and said that the purpose of the website is to foster growth of the community and especially to encourage its youth to take the community forward towards greater goals.
The new-look website was introduced to the audience by Team Devadiga's Prashant.
B G Mohandas and Yashoda Mohandas felicitated Moily and wife Malathi, while Vaman Maroly and Veni Maroly honoured district incharge minister Krishna J Palemar.
Former vice-chancellor of Kuvempu University Dr B S Sherigar, SDM College of Management principal Dr K Devaraj, neurosurgeon Dr K V Devadiga were the guests of honour.
Several achievers from the community were felicitated. A cultural programme added a dash of entertainment to the event.
Earlier, girls dressed in colourful traditional costumes depicting different cultures welcomed the dignitaries to the venue.

About the website
The original site was founded by Devadiga community visionary and achiever, B G Mohandas, in the year 2000 in Dubai. The site was designed mainly to connect the various community people and bring them together by means of using the latest information technology (IT). For more than a decade, he has single handedly and passionately maintained devadiga.com and has served its purpose i.e. to provide the latest news about the community, highlighting eminent personalities, encouraging new talents and educating youth on our culture, traditions and festivals.
