Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School celebrates Onam

Mangaluru, Sep 14: Lourdes Central School celebrated the Onam on September 13.

The programme began with the universal prayer and the prayer song, ‘Lovely Lord’, after which the principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira, vice principals, Belita Mascarenhas and Anita Thomas and Jayashree, the teacher in-charge lit the ceremonial lamp, marking the official start of the celebration.

The head girl, Diya N Yashodhar led the recitation of the preamble of the Indian constitution. Christina from class 10 shared a motivating thought before the students listened to the day’s news headlines in Malayalam, presented by Aadarsh and Manuela of class 11.

The significance of Onam was highlighted by Skandha Nambiar of class 12. The students of Class 11 and 12 combined performed a medley of festive Malayalam songs that perfectly embodied the spirit of the festival.

The principal greeted and addressed the students and teachers. The programme was compered by Marissa Elizabeth and Devananda Baburaj and conducted by the students of class 11 and 12 under the guidance of Jayashree.
