Uproar as Uttar Pradesh Assembly Opens

Lucknow, Nov 21 (IANS): Uproar and disorder marked the opening of the winter session of the Uttar Pradesh assembly Monday.

Within seconds of its commencement, almost the entire opposition in both houses of the state legislature rose up to unanimously demand the ouster of the Mayawati government. The Vidhan Sabha was adjourned till 12.20 p.m.

Terming the government as "most corrupt", members of the opposition in both houses went on raising slogans against the Mayawati regime.

The Samajwadi Party proposes to move a no-confidence motion against the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BSP) has assured its support for it.

Meanwhile, Mayawati is all set to move a resolution for division of Uttar Pradesh into four smaller states.
