Davanagere: St Aloysius International School celebrates Grandparents Day

Davanagere, Sep 14: St Aloysius International School, hosted a heartwarming Grandparents Day celebration, filling the atmosphere with love, laughter, and nostalgia on September 13. The event commenced with a prayer song by tiny tots, followed by a warm welcome by Sr Malsila, Kindergarten teacher. The significance of the day was given by Stella, school teacher.

The highlight of the programme was a delightful enactment of ‘Old McDonald Had a Farm’ by KG ll, children, accompanied by animated animals, including ducks, pigs, dogs, cats, sheep, and cows. The kindergartners showcased their talent with a dance and action song, while some students also shared a heartfelt tribute to their beloved grandparents.

Two grandparents stole the show with their energetic dance and singing performances. Some others expressed their gratitude towards the Institution for educating their grandchildren and giving them an opportunity to be on the stage. Two exciting competitions - laughing aloud for longer and cuddling their grandchildren - saw enthusiastic participation from the grandparents, who were visibly emotional and thrilled to be on stage, reminiscing about their childhood days and winners were awarded with prizes.

The chief guest, PSI of Harihar, Manju Kuppeloor, emphasized the significance of Grandparents Day and urged the grandparents to cherish and care for their grandchildren. The other dignitaries present were Fr Eric Mathias SJ, director of the school, Grace Noronha, the school advisor, Fr Vinod AJ SJ, the principal and Placid Noronha.

The grandparents were warmly welcomed with handmade colored tulips, making the celebration even more special. The event was a testament to the importance of intergenerational bonding and the valuable role grandparents play in their lives.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Sr Malsila. Sharlet Mathias, kindergarten teacher, anchored the whole programme in style.
