BSP Trying to Cover Sins: BJP

New Delhi, Nov 21 (IANS): Soon after Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati denied any political motive behind her move to divide the state into four parts, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday blamed the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) government of trying to cover its "sins" through such announcements.

"The people of Uttar Pradesh are asking for a clarification from the Bahujan Samaj Party for their non-performance of four-and-half years," BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said here.

"In such a situation, she is talking about reservation for Muslims and Brahmins, and division of the state. All this is to cover the sins of the Bahujan Samaj Party government which is neck deep in corruption," he said.

The BJP leader also alleged that the Congress, the ruling BSP and the Samajwadi Party (SP) were hand in glove and did not want corruption to be an issue in the state.

"She is staging a drama, this is a combined script of the Congress, the BSP and the SP. It doesn't suit them that corruption or crime should be made an issue in Uttar Pradesh," he added.

Uttar Pradesh assembly polls are scheduled in 2012.
