Udupi: Valedictory ceremony of 'Hackothsava 2024' held at SMVITM

Udupi, Sep 17: The valedictory function of Hackothsava 2024, a National-level, 36-hour Hackathon from organized by the department of computer science & engineering of Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM) in association with the Institution’s Innovation Cell, IEEE and Indian Society for technical education was held at college premises on September 13.

Durgadas Shetty, co-founder and CTO, Primesopic Technologies, Mangaluru was the chief guest of the programme, in his address, spoke on the technical benefits students get by participating in Hackathon. He related the technological advances in the ancient times quoting the examples of Upanishads and how it was achieved by the students participating in the Hackathon. He commended the college management for organizing such a knowledge sharing event in the college campus.

Rathnakumar, secretary, SSMVET was the guest of honour for the event, appreciated the department for organizing a national level Hackathon in the college and he said such events should be a platform to give solutions to the societal problems like fake call detections, fraud detections and cybercrime.

Dr Thirumaleshwara Bhat, principal of SMVITM was the president of the programme, addressing the gathering, expressed the joy of hosting a successful programme of this scale and advised to keep on organizing such programmes regularly, so as to benefit the student community.

Team 'Scale-up' from Nehru institute of technology, Coimbatore was the winner of Hackothsava 2024. The team received a cash prize of Rs 40,000 along with a trophy, second prize with a cash prize of Rs 25,000 was won by 'Team-7' from VIIT, Pune, two teams, team 'Octavian' from MIT, Manipal and team 'Elson_circs' from Sri Sairam Engineering College, Chennai bagged the third prize with each team getting a cash prize of Rs 12,000. 'Team Yuga' from NMIET, Pune won the best innovative project award with a cash prize of Rs 10,000.

Dr Soumya J Bhat, head department of computer science welcomed the gathering. Deepak Rao M, coordinator of the event proposed the vote of Thanks. Abishek Kini rendered the invocation. Adithi Nayak, compered the programme.
