Mangaluru: Srinivas Institute of Technology celebrates Engineers' Day

Mangaluru, Sep 18: The Engineers' Day celebration at Srinivas Institute of Technology was held with great enthusiasm, honoring the invaluable contributions of engineers to society. The event took place in the college Seminar Hall and was well-attended by students, faculty, and staff. The celebration served as a tribute to Sir M Visvesvaraya, one of India's most renowned engineers, and aimed to inspire the next generation of engineering students.

The event began with a prayer song performed by the third-semester students, which set a serene and respectful tone for the occasion. Dr Ananthkumar Kulkarni, the student welfare officer, delivered the welcome address, expressing gratitude to all attendees and extending a special welcome to the dignitaries present.

The chief guest, Rajendra Kalbavi, executive director of DK Nirmithi Kendra, Surathkal, and principal Dr Shrinivas Mayya D were florally welcomed. In his keynote address, Rajendra Kalbavi paid a heartfelt tribute to Sir M Visvesvaraya, emphasizing his monumental contributions to the field of engineering and nation-building. He highlighted the critical role engineers play in shaping the modern world, focusing on the emerging fields of artificial intelligence (AI), 3D printing, and other advanced technologies.

Kalbavi encouraged students to stay ahead of these trends, innovate, and be proactive in contributing to the progress of society. His speech was both informative and motivational, inspiring students to embrace innovation in their chosen fields. Principal Dr Shrinivas Mayya D also addressed the audience, reflecting on Sir M Visvesvaraya’s legacy. He urged students to follow in the footsteps of this visionary engineer, contributing to the nation's growth and development through dedication and hard work. His speech reinforced the importance of engineers in shaping society and encouraged students to uphold the values of professionalism and innovation.

The event was smoothly conducted with Dr Sumana V S and Vishal 7th sem student serving as the masters of ceremony.
