Udupi, Sep 18: In a joint operation, RTO officials, Udupi city municipality, and Udupi traffic police cracked down on buses violating their designated route permits. The operation, conducted on Wednesday morning at Ambagilu Junction, aimed to ensure buses operate on the Gundibailu–Kalsanka route as per their permits.

Officials checked every bus passing through the area, instructing drivers and conductors to adhere to their assigned routes. Stickers indicating the designated routes were also affixed to the buses.

Many private buses with permits for the Gundibailu–Kalsanka route were found operating on the Ambagilu Junction–Old Taluk Office route instead. Buses coming from Santhekatte, Kundapur, and surrounding areas were avoiding their designated route due to low occupancy.

Despite multiple warnings from the RTO and district administration, bus operators had not taken the route permit guidelines seriously until now.
