Bantwal: Rs 1.33 lac worth of gold, cash stolen during Eid Milad function

Bantwal, Sep 19: Thieves broke into the house of Asma, a resident of Montimaaru in Manchi village, on the night of September 16. They gained entry by cutting the iron grill of a window and stole gold ornaments and cash worth Rs 1.33 lac.

Asma had gone to a nearby mosque at around 9 pm to attend a programme for Eid Milad and returned home at 12:45 am, when she discovered the theft.

The stolen items include a half-sovereign gold chain worth Rs 72,000, a gold finger ring worth Rs 24,000, a two-gram gold bracelet valued at Rs 12,000, and Rs 25,000 in cash. The total value of the stolen goods amounts to Rs 1.33 lac.

Bantwal rural inspector Shivakumar and PSI Harish M R conducted a spot inspection, and further investigation is underway. A canine squad and fingerprint experts were also called to the scene.
