Puttur: St Philomena College students selects for nationals

Puttur, Sep 20: Two students from St Philomena College have been selected to represent Karnataka at the national-level athletics competition following their outstanding performances at the Karnataka State inter-District junior and Under-23 athletics meet. The event, organized by the Mysore District Athletics Association, was held at the Chamundi Vihar Sports Stadium, Mysuru, from September 14 to 17.

Yashwin, a first-year BCom student, clinched the gold medal in the under-20 high jump category, while Varsha, a second-year BCA student, secured a silver medal in the hammer throw. Both athletes have earned the opportunity to compete in the upcoming national meet, which will be held in Ranchi.

Other participants from the college include Prithvi (first-year BCom) in hammer throw, Chaitrika (second-year BSc), and Keerthan (first-year BBA) in the 400-meter race.

Principal Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro extended best wishes to the students as they prepare for the national competition. Physical education directors, Dr Elias Pinto and Rajesh Mulya, admired the athletes for their hard work and dedication.
