Mangalore, Nov 23: A fire broke out in a house at Attavar here on Wednesday November 23. The house belongs to Gunakar, a coolie.

The two-roomed house was earlier shared by Gunakar's brother Nagesh. Now, Gunakar stays in one of the rooms with his wife Seema and their three children.

On Wednesday, Gunakar was away at work and Seema, after finishing her cooking doused the fire and went out. On her return, she was horrified to find the house in flames.

Fire department personnel rushed to the spot and doused the fire. Nearly half the house has been completely gutted.

Sources said that Seema and Gunakar were not in good terms with the neighbours, and Seema also alleged foul play and said that someone known to them might have lit the fire.

Incidentally, Gunakar was fighting a case related to encroachment on his land by his neighbour. All documents and files related to the case have been gutted in the fire, it is learnt.

Moreover, the house does not have power supply and therefore the possibility of short circuit is ruled out. There is no cooking gas either.

On hearing the news of house fire, the elder son, a student of sixth standard in a school at Attavar came running home.

Pandeshwar assistant fire station officer P Sidddalingappa told Daijiworld that the loss has been estimated at Rs 40,000. The house members are yet to register a case. They are at a loss and are expecting some kind of aid from the local political leaders.

Surprised to here from the fire station officer the estimated loss is Rs 40,000 he is really out of his mind. This house is of two rooms with red stone walls, wooden roof, plus tiles. The house hold items and important documents are burnt. How can anyone estimate like this I hope his estimation will not effect on this poor family during the approval of the compensation from the government for their misfortune.

So horrified to see such incident during day time, were there is no power supply for that house. The person behind this incident should be punished and make good the loss

Very sad and tragic. A big misfortune has befallen on this poor family. Whoever is responsible for the act should be bought to justice and forced to make good the losses. I shudder to think, in these days of high inflation, how could this couple rebuild the house again plus they have lost the land documentation. Really sorry incident!!!
