Karnataka Sangha Qatar celebrates Engineers' Day, unveils its silver jubilee logo

Doha, Sep 21: Karnataka Sangha Qatar (An associate organization under Aegis of Indian Embassy, Doha Qatar) in collaboration with the Indian Cultural Center celebrated ‘Engineers' Day’ on September 15 to commemorate the 163rd birth anniversary of an extraordinary engineer, exemplary statesman ‘Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya’ at Ashoka Hall of Indian Cultural Center, Doha, Qatar.

The chief guest for the event was Indian Ambassador to Qatar H E Vipul and the chief guest of honor was Abdulla Ibrahim Y A Fakhroo, head – operations & maintenance at Kahramaa – Electrical Transmission Department.

The event was officially inaugurated by lighting the lamp by dignitaries present which was followed by a short video presentation on the life and achievement of Bharat Rathna Sir Visvesvaraya. Ravi Shetty in his presidential address welcomed the gathering and wished everybody ‘Happy Engineers Day’, thanked the Indian Cultural Center for collaborating with Karnataka Sangha Qatar in celebrating ‘Engineers Day’ and also appreciated fellow MC members and volunteers for their efforts behind organizing this event.

The highlight of the day was the Keynote tech talk by Seenu Pillai, commissioning manager, ASTAD project management, on ‘Paradigm shift in the Building Construction Industry’ and was focused on the shifts occurring due to climate change and in relation to the Montreal protocol, Kyoto protocol, and the Paris agreement. A talented member of Karnataka Sangha Qatar, Kishore V, an electrical engineer with Technip Energies delivered a keynote on the topic ‘Energy transition around us’ and spoke on United Nations sustainable development goals, energy transition as observed at the corporate level by brand change, large scale solar plants in India and Qatar. Mementos were presented to both the engineers by president Ravi Shetty and advisory committee member V S Mannangi in appreciation of their technical talks.

Manikantan A P, the president of the Indian Cultural Center in his speech noted that the Indian Cultural Center committee of eleven team members had seven engineers and he can see the difference they bring at the community level. He appreciated Karnataka Sangha for organizing Engineers Day each year with a variety of technical programs at the Indian Cultural Center. Chief guest his excellency Vipul in his address, lauded the efforts and contributions of Indian engineers in Qatar. He spoke about the achievements of Indians in the engineering field, highlighting those in the field of space programmes and information technology fields. Being a mechanical engineer himself, he said that engineers can make anything possible with their innovative approach and determination. Guest of honor Abdulla Ibrahim Y A Fakhroo, in his address, appreciated the Indian engineering fraternity in Qatar and engineers in general for their huge contributions in all engineering fields and support to the development of Qatar. He also spoke about the achievements of Indian colleagues in his department. Special mementos were presented to the chief guest and guest of honor by the Indian Cultural Center and Karnataka Sangha President Jointly.

Maintaining its tradition, In recognition of the contributions in the field of engineering and social support, Karnataka Sangha Qatar conferred ‘Abhiyantarashree’ awards to its engineer members Harish Baliga, operations manager with Venture Gulf Engineering and Subramanya Hebbagelu, quality control and quality assurance engineer with Galfar Al Misnad. Both recipients of the awards thanked Karnataka Sangha Qatar and shared their experience as engineers and their connectivity with the community.

It was a moment of pride and happiness to all present at the event as Karnataka Sangha Qatar will be completing 25 years of its formation. To commemorate the 25 Years of formation a special silver jubilee logo was graciously unveiled by his excellency Vipul. This session was conducted by Arun Kumar, senior most former president of Karnataka Sangha Qatar.

Indian Cultural Center and Indian Community Benevolent Forum past president Baburajan, ICC past president Milan Arun, Karnataka Sangha Advisory board members Arun Kumar, V S Mannangi, Deepak Shetty, H K Madhu, several associate organization presidents & community leaders, Indian Cultural Center and Karnataka Sangha Qatar members were present during the event.

Ramesha K S, vice president of Karnataka Sangha Qatar conducted the programme efficiently as the master of ceremony. Mohan Kumar, general secretary of Indian Cultural Centre proposed the Vote of thanks. The event was officially completed with a group photo of everybody present during the event.
