Mangaluru: Sexual harassment of minor – Accused sentenced to 20 years of RI

Mangaluru, Sep 22: The additional district and sessions court, FTSC-2 Pocso special court judge Justice Manu K S sentenced the accused to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) for sexually harassing a minor girl.

Sadashiva (31), a resident of Savanalu village of Beltangady is the accused who was convicted by the court. The accused used to speak to the girl through her mother’s mobile phone. Later, he kept in touch with the victim through Facebook.

On August 9, 2022 in the morning, the accused sexually harassed the victim when no one was at home and later sent obscene message on Facebook. The victim girl consumed diesel out of frustration. A case was registered in Beltangady police station in this regard.

CI Shivakumar B conducted the investigation and submitted the charge sheet to the court. As many as 14 witnesses deposed in front of the court and 33 proofs were produced. The judge pronounced accused Sadashiva guilty and sentenced him to 20 years of RI and slapped a fine of Rs 50,000. The court directed him to pay the fine amount to the victim girl as per the instructions.

In addition, the judge also directed legal services authority of the district to pay Rs 1.5 lac to the victim girl. Special public prosecutor K Badrinathaa Nayari argued in favour of the prosecution.

    i think this is one more case of man becoming bakra...as the story says the accused used to speak to girl through her mothers mobile..men need to be careful...now even 12 and 13 year old girls are smarter....do rogasana
