Mangaluru: Yenepoya deemed to be University holds ECIPH Dialogues 2024

Mangaluru, Sep 23: An international conference on reconstructing global health and social impact under the 'ECIPH Dialogues 2024' was held at Yenepoya Deemed to be University on Sunday September 22.

ECIPH Dialogues is a flagship programme curated by the Edward & Cynthia Institute of Public Health – advanced technical cooperation center with Yenepoya deemed to be university. This was also held to mark the 10 glorious years of CHD group’s service in building India and providing technical support to other parts of the world.

Prof Dr Arthur L Frank, chair emeritus clinical professor at Drexel University, Philadelphia, United States of America was the keynote speaker at the ECIPH Dialogues 2024. He spoke on various issues around occupational health and its implications on environmental health affecting the health and well-being systems. He also pointed out how industrial engagement in asbestos has devasting consequences on public health outcomes.

K S Prashanth, consultant, NHSRC, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India was another distinguished speaker who addressed frameworks around health systems governance and planning at various levels of care.

Dr Ashwini Colaco, reader, A J Institute of Dental Sciences, highlighted the need for oral health convergence on public health priorities in the agenda to shape sustainable futures.

Jennifer Donohoe, nurse practitioner and director - Donohoe Public Relations, Australia addressed the gathering on how effective communication model becomes critical while addressing patient care and how doctors must build working communication models while dealing with patients and also patient bystanders/relatives.

Virtual speakers, advocate Juhi Damodar, spoke on how law and public health needs can be effectively addressed to achieve meaningful results and Tingting Wan, senior lecturer, Lingnan University, Hong Kong highlighted issues on ageing in the Chinese context and lessons to learn for healthcare providers.

Scientific sessions included oral and poster presentations by delegates. Yenepoya deemed to be university was the official university partner to the ECIPH Dialogues 2024. Dr Aishwarya Shetty and Cham Kebba Omar were the MCs for the day and Dr S Robin, programme lead & assistant professor, Edward & Cynthia Institute of Public Health oversaw the entire scientific session.
