Udupi, Sep 23: Ramesh Kanchan, president of the Udupi Block Congress Committee, has called for a thorough investigation by the central government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding allegations of animal fat being found in the ghee used to prepare the famous Tirupati laddu.

Kanchan highlighted the significant outrage among Hindus and the political implications arising from serious accusations made by Chandrababu Naidu against the ruling YSR party in Andhra Pradesh, which has been a key ally of the NDA government in the past two terms. He pointed out that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi typically reacts quickly to events across the country, his silence on the Tirupati laddu controversy raises suspicions.

The Congress leader questioned why the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Hindu organizations, which often portray themselves as protectors of Hindu sentiments, have remained silent on such a serious matter. He stressed that the public is eager to understand why the Prime Minister has not addressed the situation.

The Tirupati laddu is considered sacred, attracting millions of devotees from various faiths who visit the Tirupati temple, one of India's oldest and most revered religious sites, it ranks first among the oldest temples in India. Kanchan described the incident as shocking, given the laddu's significant religious importance.

He also criticized Modi, who poses as a person who cares a lot about Hindus, for not having the courage to speak out against his ally, chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy of the YSR party, during this crisis. Kanchan urged that, rather than sidestepping the issue, Modi should ensure a proper investigation is conducted through central agencies like the CBI and ED, rather than deflecting blame onto the congress party.
