Kundapur, Sep 27: The Taluk NPS Employees’ Association held a protest on Thursday at the taluk office, submitting an appeal to tahsildar Shobhalaxmi, urging the withdrawal of the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) as per the NMOPS national executive's decision and calling for the implementation of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).

Addressing the protesters, association president Harish Shetty said, “The Karnataka State Government NPS Employees' Association has been fighting for the implementation of OPS for 10 years. However, the Union government decided to implement the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) during the NMOPS executive meeting held in Delhi on September 19. This scheme is based on the share market and offers no security to retired government employees. Therefore, our association strongly opposes NPS and urges the implementation of OPS, as promised by the Congress party in the state."

NPS members speaking at the event warned that protests would continue if OPS is not implemented.

Secretary Ganesh Shetty Molahalli, vice president Raghavendra Gulvadi, Sunita Baanj, treasurer Ravi, joint secretary Gurumurthy B, Ashwini, organizing secretary Rajesh, and Maharudra were present at the protest.
