Mangalore, Nov 25: "Educational institutions should encourage students to go  beyond bookish knowledge. Focus could be laid on extra curricular activities and public speaking to expose them to the competitive world which would not have been covered in text books. In this regard, St Agnes Education Institutions is par excellence and the college has earned good name and fame," opined B R Bhat, general manager, Corporation Bank.

He was the chief guest at the College Day celebration of St Agnes Pre-University College held at the College Auditorium on Friday November 25.

He also distributed prizes and scholarships on the occasion. Dr Ravishankar Rao, vice president of PTA, Sr Maria Kripa, joint secretary of the college, and Sr M Shamitha, principal, were present on the dais.
 
Dr P V Sobha, lecturer in Hindi, welcomed the gathering. Chaithanya, lecturer in Physics, proposed the vote of thanks. Hariet Moras compered.

The students presented a magnificent cultural programme based on the theme ‘Forests for People’.  Earlier, ‘Mohiniyattam’ dance was staged by the students. The show culminated with various tribal dances of India.
