Mangaluru, Sep 28: Milagres College, Hampankatta, inaugurated the National Service Scheme (NSS) for the academic year 2024-25 with a formal ceremony by lighting of lamp on September 27 in the college auditorium. The event was organized in collaboration with the college's Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC).

Alwin D'Souza, assistant professor in the department of political science at St Aloysius deemed to be University, graced the occasion as the chief guest. In his address, Alwin D'Souza emphasized the importance of community service and encouraged students to actively participate in NSS activities to develop leadership skills and social responsibility. Anusha presented the report of the previous year.

The event was presided over by Dr Fr Michael L Santhumayor, principal of Milagres College, who, in his presidential address, highlighted the significance of discipline and social concerns among the volunteers. Joel Mascarenhas, NSS programme officer, Shravya, assistant NSS officer, and NSS unit secretaries, Anusha (II FND) and Tenzil (II BCom), were present on the dais.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks, followed by the national anthem. Abdul Khifa from II BCom compered the programme, Razee welcomed the gathering, and Joslin Valder proposed the vote of thanks.
