Udupi: Renowned photographer Gurudath Kamath passes away, leaves behind lasting legacy

Udupi, Sep 28: Renowned and award-winning photographer Gurudath Kamath passed away on September 28 in Mangaluru.

Kamath’s death is a significant loss for the photography community in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts. A self-trained commercial photographer and trainer, he was based in Udupi, Karnataka, and was also a passionate traveller and avid trekker.

Throughout his career, he taught photography courses at the Architecture College, M I T, and the Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration in Manipal.

He documented the Paryaya tenure of Sri Shiroor Math at Udupi Sri Krishna Math, maintaining a website that showcased daily updates from 2010 to 2012. Additionally, he designed and organised YHAI Karnataka State Level Treks in 1997, 2001, 2003, 2004, and 2006.

Kamath also served as an associate cinematographer for various Kannada films. His passing has deeply shocked the photography fraternity, leaving a void that will be felt for years to come.
