Social activist Iqbal Manna honoured with 'Swami Vivekananda' State Award

Udupi, Sep 29: Social activist M Iqbal Manna was honoured with the prestigious 'Swami Vivekananda' State Award by the World Human Rights Council during a ceremony held on Sunday at Lions Bhavan in Brahmagiri, Udupi.

The event was presided over by Dr Shankar Shetty, president of the council. Newly elected district president M Iqbal Kunjibettu was also in attendance, along with other office bearers.

Notable attendees included former district president Shyam Sundar Nayari, the appointed state legal advisor, as well as social activist M Farooq and lawyer Akhil B Hegde, both of whom addressed the audience. Other council members present were District vice-president Santosh Kumar Shetty, general secretary Devendra Suvarna, joint secretary Sadashiva Kotege, and legal advisor Harsharaj.

The programme was welcomed by Shivakumar Shettigar, with Jyoti Saligrama serving as the compère and offering closing remarks.
