Udupi: Mahisha Dasara can be celebrated without hurting our sentiments, says Yaduveer Wadiyar

Udupi, Sep 29: Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar, the scion of Mysuru royal family, referred to Mahisha Dasara celebrations in Mysuru, stating, "As a responsible representative, I respect the constitutional right that allows individuals to hold any belief. People are free to celebrate any festival or event in their homes and can organise celebrations in public spaces after obtaining government permission."

Wadiyar emphasised that the Chamundi Hills is a sacred site, dedicated to Goddess Chamundeshwari, revered as Mahishasura Mardini, the slayer of Mahishasura. "We believe that Chamundeshwari vanquished Mahishasura, and this sentiment must not be hurt. If any celebration is conducted without harming these sentiments, we would be happy," he added.

In addition, Wadiyar addressed the MUDA (Mysuru Urban Development Authority) scam and the ongoing Valmiki reservation controversy, calling for the Chief Minister's resignation. "The MUDA scam and Valmiki issue have already been extensively discussed, and an FIR has been filed," he noted.

He urged the Chief Minister to take responsibility for his position, step down, and face the investigation. "Let the inquiry reveal the findings, and based on the outcome, the future course of action can be decided," he stated.
