Mangaluru: ICPA to hold 29th annual convention from October 1 to 2

Mangaluru, Sep 29: The Indian Catholic Press Association (ICPA) is set to host its 29th Annual Convention and Award programme on October 1 and 2 at CODP Padua, Mangaluru. The event will be hosted by Raknno Weekly from Mangaluru and sponsored by Leksa Lighting Technologies, Moodbidri.

The convention's theme is "Gandhian Journalism – Upholding Truth, Justice & Non-Violence." It will be inaugurated by bishop of Mangaluru Peter Paul Saldanha at 7 pm on October 1. MLC Ivan D'Souza and bishop Henry D'Souza of Bellary will be the guests of honour.

A panel discussion will take place on October 2, with retired Justice Nagmohan Das delivering the keynote address. The panel will feature Dr Purushoththam Bilimale, chairman of the Kannada Development Authority, Dr Anupama H S, writer and activist from Honnavar, and Dr Cedric Prakash SJ, writer and activist, with Joshan Rodrigues, editor of The Examiner from Mumbai, moderating the session.

Karnataka legislative assembly speaker U T Khader will be the chief guest for the award ceremony in the afternoon. Dr Shaison P Ouseph, Vinayaka Nirmal, and The New Leader Weekly have been chosen for the prestigious ICPA awards this year. Journalists from across the nation are expected to participate in the two-day event.
