Mangaluru, Sep 30: A programme to felicitate MLC Ivan D'Souza was organized by Catholic Sabha Mangaluru Pradesh – Episcopal City Zone at MCC Bank, Hampankatta Branch on Sunday at 10 am.

The event was presided over by Ida Furtado, president of Catholic Sabha Episcopal City Zone. Fr Bonaventure Nazareth of Milagres Church, spiritual director of the organization Fr John Vaz, vice president Steevan Rodrigues, secretary Rohan Sequeira, convener of the programme and president of Rachana organization John Monteiro, and MCC Bank chairman Anil Lobo were present on the dais.

Fr Bonaventure Nazareth and Fr John Vaz inaugurated the programme. In his introductory speech, Fr John Vaz explained the purpose of the event, highlighting the importance of carrying out the work of an organization with dedication and unity. He praised Ivan D'Souza for embodying these qualities.

John Monteiro, convener of the programme, formally introduced Ivan D'Souza to the gathering before honoring him. Philip Pereira, president of the Rosario unit, read the honorary letter.

In his response to the felicitation, MLC Ivan D'Souza said, "Politics is not an easy field. It requires walking alongside the public, listening to their concerns, and striving to provide solutions. Only then can plans be effectively implemented. I consider myself fortunate to serve as the sole representative of my community. The representatives of Mangaluru are highly regarded at both the state and central levels due to our education, abilities, and readiness to serve. Therefore, instead of avoiding politics, more people, especially from our community, should step into this field. I thank the Catholic Sabha Episcopal City Zone for honoring me."

Kishore Fernandes compered the event, with Lancy Lasrado serving as co-convener. Secretary Rohan Sequeira delivered the vote of thanks.
