Very unfortunate incident. may their souls rest in peace.
Maruti Omni as many have pointed out isn't safe vehicle for long commute. There is to be some norms put by the officials so that car manufacturers will try building safer cars.

Very sad news. Omni is not a passenger vehicle. Even at 20-30 KM/Hour speed it is unsafe.
Central Govt. must bring "Motor Vehicle Safety Standards" (like the once in Europe and USA) and mandate all the auto manufacturers to follow it. Insurance companies also can pressure the manufacturers to make safe cars. Insurance companies in USA have created IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety), they buy passenger vehicles available in the market, test it and show the results to people through media and on their web site.

Maruthi Omni is UNSAFE VEHICLE for the Indian roads considering many other aspects( NANO too). Even we know these we buy & end up with this kind of accident.Same like our Mangalore Airport , Govt d UNSAFE airport , still we are forced to use... Omni or any kind of Van I personally feel not very safe compared to car or jeep. The impact of force directly on the passenger .? So how we can escape . Very sad that toddler & man died in this accident .May their soul rest in peace

Earlier due to our road condition we could not drive more than 20 km of speed, and the road accidents were hardly noticed. But now road conditions are improved, and the traffic is also increased. The only way of controlling accidents is to educate the drivers accordingly and enforce speed limit.

Maruthi omni is a death van there is no safety at all. If anyone cannot afford to buy a safe vehical because of it's petrol consumtion don't buy one. Just to beat the petrol cost people spilling their blood.

At the same time impiment the strong law for breaking the traffic law. The faulty once must compensate the families of lost of lives. Drunk drivers must be structly penalised before they leave the preson. Negligence is the major cause of accidents.

Lokayukta must spy on road contractors and road traffic autorities of their cheap and unsafe construction in the interest of grabing money.
