Mangaluru: Carmel School CBSE, Kotekar celebrates Gandhi Jayanthi

Mangaluru, Oct 4: Carmel School, CBSE Kotekar paid a loving tribute to the Father of our Nation on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi. The staff and students paid tribute to him with deep respect and admiration. Students of grade 1 grade a beautiful programme in their colorful and captivating attire. The teachings and the values of Mahatma Gandhiji were highlighted throughout the programme in various forms. Sr Jyothi Priya AC graced the occasion as chief guest.

The programme began with a prayer song, followed by a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. The theme his struggle for freedom, his emphasis on swacchatha was given importance throughout the programme by the students. Presenting the significance of the day, the students spoke on Gandhian principles, values he upheld and his struggle for the nation’s freedom.

The students then showcased the 3 monkey’s messages of Gandhi, "See no evil, hear no evil, and Speak no evil", through a creative presentation. The guest shared insights into Gandhi's education, childhood, and family, including his parents and their influence on his life. Thus, invited students to imitate his values in their life.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Isa Shukur and Adhya. The principal, Sr Pramila D’Souza AC, the vice principal, Sr Anitha D’Souza AC, and the coordinator, Sr Ashwina AC, were present on the occasion and congratulated the students for their performance.

Keeping with Gandhi's emphasis on cleanliness, after the programme, the students and teachers, along with the teaching and non-teaching staff, participated in a cleaning drive. This was a fitting tribute to Gandhi's legacy and a reminder of the importance of swachhata in our daily lives.

As the programme came to a close, the students and teachers reflected on the significance of Gandhi's message and the importance of embracing non-violence, peace, and simplicity in their own lives. The celebration was a testament to the school's commitment to instilling values and promoting national pride among its students. With a renewed sense of purpose and inspiration, the students and teachers looked forward to continuing Gandhi's legacy and working towards a brighter future for all.
