Dubai: Amchigele Samaj Celebrates Annual Day with Dazzling Event

Dubai, Nov 28: The members of UAE Amchigele Samaj, celebrated their annual day on Friday, November 25 in style with a day-long programme at JSS International School, Al Barsha (South), Dubai.

The celebration began with the lighting of the lamp by the Subhash Shanbhogue, members of the Advisory Board Ramchandra Hegde, Anil Kamath and president, Vice president of the the Samaj Ajith Nayak and Sudarshan Hegde respectively followed by a prayer sung by the tiny tots of the samaj namely Kriti Kamath, Shivani Pai, Vibha Kamath and Stuti Kamath.

This was followed by a Ganesh Vandana dance by small children namely Vindhya Pai, Prerana Pai, Aditi Kamath, Riya Shenoy. The president of the Samaj Ajith Nayak welcomed the gathering and wished them a joyful day of happiness and relaxation.

The chief guest for the event was one of the most eminent personalities of the GSB Samaj, Dr P Dayanand Pai from Bangalore (Century Group). He is Bangalore’s leading real estate baron, the chairman of Century Group, who has made a successful foray into an array of fields like housing and construction, hospitality, education, information technology and consumer goods.

Students from class 1 to 12th were honoured for their Scholastic and Non-scholastic achievements during the academic year 2010-2011. The meritorious students were presented with a certificate and a memento for their achievements by Ramchandra Hegde, Anil Kamath and Ajith Nayak.

This was followed by a divine and blissful bhajan performance by the upcoming young amchigele talent Balachandra Prabhu from Mangalore, which was well-liked by the audience. He was accompanied by Anand Shanbhag on the Harmonium, Avinash Kamath and Ganesh Kudva on the Tabla and Shanti Shanbhag. The team was later facilitated by the Managing Committee members.

This was followed by a program “A tribute to Madhuri Dixit” by Kids and Mo from Sharjah. All the participants looked by budding Madhuri Dixit with their matching dresses and dance performance. The audience were so thrilled by the dance that they were dancing to the tunes too.

The next programme was a musical skit by the kids and members of Abu Dhabi called “Journey of a Girl”. The performers touched the hearts of the audience by their performance depiction of the various phases in the life of a Girl which the audience especially the ladies correlated to their own life journey. The audience whole heartedly appreciated the performance of the Abu Dhabi Members.

The chief guest of the event, Dr P Dayananda Pai and his wife Mohini Dayananda Pai were honored by S M Rao, a very eminent personality of the UAE Samaj and his wife Rao, on behalf of the Samaj. Rao spoke a fews words about the greatness of Dr Dayananda Pai and appraised the audience to follow his footsteps in life in all manner.

Later Dr Dayananda Pai spoke on the occasion and appreciated the noble work that was being done by the UAE Amchigele Samaj and also affirmed his full hearted support to the cause of the Samaj. Narrating his own experience on how he had come up in life he guided the audience on how people should start their own business and help the other members of the community rather than taking up jobs in companies and being content in life.

A delicious lunch was served at the venue for the members.

The post-lunch session was enlivened by Vijay Prakash and troupe who provided a classic performance which added glamour to the event. He was supported by Divya Raghavan (Singing), B S Arun Kumar (Dru ), Shabbir Ahmed A M, Caleb Caruso Alexander, Srinivasaachar Dammur. Every song drew a big round of applause from the audience and majority of the audience was dancing in the auditorium to the catchy tunes. The entire audience gave a standing ovation to the performers for their excellent performance. It was indeed one of the best experiences that all the members of the Samaj would remember for years to come. The singing was a treat to the ears of music lovers and was a fitting part of the grand program.The entire troupe was felicitated later by the Samaj president Ajith Nayak.

The program was well supported by a huge number of sponsors who were felicitated by the committee. The committee also honored the representatives of various organizations from Karnataka who attended the programme.

The secretary of the Samaj Gopal Prabhu presented the Annual Activity Report of the Samaj wherein he explained in detail all the samaj activities conducted during the year.

A hilarious skit by Dubai Amchies named ‘Amchi Boss’, which was on the concept of “Big Boss”, was an out and out comedy experience that had the audience laughing to their heart out and provided a total entertainment and a grand finale to the days programme. Each participant of the drama contributed in his own way to make the programme a great hit with the audience.

The super day of entertainment and networking concluded with a grand Raffle Draw that was held where in lots of exiting prizes like Diamond Pendant, Gold coins, TV, BlackBerry Play Book, Sun Glasses of Hugo Boss and Gucci, Mediacom, Lenko Speakers, iPod etc were distributed to the lucky winners. Various Spot Prizes were distributed during the day which consisted of Gift vouchers from Wafi Group, Carrefour and Airmiles.

The vice-president of the Samaj Sudarshan Hegde then proposed the vote of thanks to one and all for their contribution to the success of the programme.

Approximately 650 amchigele baandhavas attended this program in their colorful attires, giving it an festive atmosphere and they all thoroughly enjoyed the event.

Anil Trivedi from 89.1 FM compeered the entire event and kept the audience on their toes with his interaction with the audience and surprise items.
