Srinivas University's Dr Sandhya Shenoy bags Dr Kalpana Chawla State Award for Women Scientist 2023

Bengaluru, Oct 4: Dr Sandhya Shenoy U, SERB research scientist, department of materials science and engineering, Institute of Engineering and Technology, Srinivas University, Mukka has received the prestigious Dr Kalpana Chawla Young Scientist State Award in the field of Science and Technology from the Government of Karnataka.

The award was presented by the chief minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah on September 26 in J N Tata Auditorium, IISc Bengaluru. Bharat Ratna Prof C N R Rao, N D Boseraju, minister for minor irrigation and science and technology, government of Karnataka and other dignitaries were present during the state award presentation function.

The award included a medal, citation and cash prize of Rs one lac. Dr Sandhya received the award for her pioneering contribution to the field of thermoelectrics through discovery of new resonant dopants in chalcogenides and oxide materials. Her name has been included in the prestigious list of top 2% scientists of the world published by Stanford University during the last two years based on her impactful research work.

These achievements have been highly appreciated by chancellor Dr CA A Raghavendra Rao, pro-chancellor Dr A Srinivas Rao, Srinivas University. They congratulated Dr Sandhya for her accomplishments at a very young age.
