Udupi: St Mary’s PU College, Shirva inaugurates annual NSS camp

Udupi, Oct 4: St Mary's PU College, Shirva, inaugurated its annual NSS camp on October 3 at St Joseph's English Medium School, Belman.

Walter Nandalike, founder of Daijiworld Media, inaugurated the camp. In his motivational speech, Nandalike shared inspiring thoughts and fondly recalled his own experiences as an NSS volunteer during his college days. He was also honored by the college administration during the event.

Fr Fredrick Mascharenhas, correspondent of St Joseph's School, graced the inaugural ceremony with his presence.

Among the dignitaries present were Melwin Aranha, vice president of the Shirva Church pastoral committee; Lydwin Aranha, headmistress of St Joseph's English Medium School, Belman; Flavia D'Souza, secretary of the Shirva Church pastoral committee; and Gregory Menezes, vice president of the parish pastoral committee, Belman.

In his presidential address, Fr Dr Leslie Clifford D'Souza, correspondent of St Mary's PU College, said, "The institution is celebrating its golden jubilee this academic year. NSS volunteers are known for their discipline, time management, and service-oriented mindsets. Along with educational achievements, service activities like the NSS are also important."

Jayashankar K, the principal, welcomed the gathering. NSS officer Maria Jacintha Furtado gave an overview of the seven-day program for the annual NSS camp.

Nikitha compered the program, Sinchit read the felicitation note, and Edward Larsen D'Souza, NSS co-convener, delivered the vote of thanks.

NSS leader Prathvi and other volunteers were also present at the event.
