Mangaluru: Private bus named 'Israel' changed to 'Jerusalem' after objections

Mangaluru, Oct 6: The name of a private bus operating between Mulki and Moodbidri was changed following objections raised on social media. The bus, originally named "Israel Travels," has now been renamed "Jerusalem Travels."

Lester Kateel, a native of Kateel who has been working in Israel for the past 12 years, purchased the bus from Mangaluru and named it Israel Travels. His family members were managing the bus business.

Recently, as tensions between Palestine and Israel escalated, objections were raised regarding the name "Israel Travels," and the bus was criticized on social media. The matter was brought to the attention of the police, who promptly requested the bus owner to change the name to avoid any potential communal issues. In response, Lester renamed the bus "Jerusalem Travels."

Reacting to the situation, Lester said, "I worked in Israel and witnessed the country's excellent systems. Out of respect, I named the bus 'Israel.' However, I have changed the name after objections were raised. Jerusalem is a holy land and is also part of Israel."

Good decesion Br. Lester. Although there is nothing wrong, still better to avoid any complications. I am sure if some one operates a bus as Pakistan Travels or China Travels the same situvation would have arised.
