Mangaluru, Oct 6: The Department of Pre-University, Dakshina Kannada, in association with Yenepoya Pre-University College, successfully hosted the District Level Wrestling competition at Endurance Zone, Deralakatte, Mangaluru on October 4.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by esteemed guests, including Javeed Yenepoya, trustee and director of Yenepoya College, Pradeep D'Souza, deputy director of Youth Empowerment and Sports Department, Dakshina Kannada, and Uzwal Menezes, principal of Yenepoya Pre-University College.

The event witnessed participation from over 21 colleges, showcasing exceptional sportsmanship and competitive spirit. Wrestlers demonstrated remarkable skill and agility, making the competition an exciting spectacle

Alva's P U College emerged as the overall champion in both the girls' and boys' categories. In the girls' category, Alva's P U College secured the top spot, while St Agnes P U College finished as runners-up. Similarly, in the boys' category, Alva's P U College took the top honours, with St Aloysius P U College finishing second.

Yenepoya PU College Secured overall 3rd place in boys competition.

The prize distribution ceremony was led by Uzwal Menezes, principal of Yenepoya Pre-University College, along with other dignitaries. The ceremony marked the culmination of a successful event that promoted sportsmanship, teamwork, and healthy competition among participants.

The ‘YEN AKHADA’ Wrestling Championship 2024 was a resounding success, showcasing the skills of young wrestlers and promoting sportsmanship and competition.
