Udupi: LMH canteen 'Doctor’s Kitchen' inaugurated

Udupi, Oct 10: The newly renovated LMH canteen 'Doctor’s Kitchen' was inaugurated at Lombard Memorial Hospital (Mission), Udupi premises on October 10.

The Doctor’s Kitchen was inaugurated by ribbon-cutting and lighting-lamp. The vegetarian section was inaugurated by Jayakara Shetty Indrali, while the non-vegetarian section was inaugurated by Ramesh Kanchan.

Hemachandra Kumar, bishop CSI KSD and LMH chairman, inaugurating the canteen said, “Without God's blessing, nothing is possible. The canteen is a result of hard work and sacrifice. Sushil Jathanna's efforts in organizing such events and developing projects like these are essential for society. The canteen will provide a hygienic and much-needed service to the hospital.”

Dr Sushil Jathanna, director of Lombard Mission Hospital, in his presidential address, mentioned the thorough planning behind the renovation. "Before renovating the canteen, we had a tender process with five key criteria: experience, quality of food, availability of diet-specific meals (such as cardiac, diabetic, and low-protein diets), hygiene, and affordability. We have appointed Devendra Nayak, an experienced individual, to manage the canteen. Frequent checks will ensure cleanliness and high standards. Moving forward, we plan to develop an OT complex," Jathanna stated.

In his inaugural address, Jayakara Shetty Indrali, president of Badagubettu Credit Cooperative Society, expressed his connection to the hospital. "I was born in this hospital, and it is incredible to see how Dr Jathanna has transformed the old buildings into something new. Devendra is known for his commitment to cleanliness and taste, making 'Doctor's Kitchen' the perfect name for this canteen."

Ramesh Knachan, corporator Chitpady Udupi, speaking at the event, praised Dr Jathanna for the various initiatives taken since assuming responsibility for the hospital. He also requested improvements to the bus stop and circle near the hospital, while ensuring the continued availability of affordable, hygienic food.

Devendra Nayak, the lessee of LMH Canteen, expressed his gratitude to the hospital management for the opportunity. "Our goal is to prioritize customer satisfaction through our service. The canteen offers fresh juice, breakfast, snacks, meals, and specialized diet food," he said.

Dr Sushil Jathanna, was felicitated on the occasion.

Area chairman CSI KSD Udupi Ivan D Soans, led a prayer. Dr Ganesh Kamath welcomed the gathering. Rohi Rathnakar delivered the vote of thanks.

Doctors, students, staff and others were present on the occasion.
