Baroda (Gujarat), Oct 12: "The celebration of Dasara marks the end of Ramleela and commemorates Lord Rama's victory over Ravana, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil. In this spirit, owe should bid farewell to negativity and step towards new beginnings, " said Shashidhar B. Shetty, president of the Tulu Sangha Baroda.

The Tulu Sangha Baroda celebrated the Kadiru festival traditionally at the Tulu Chavadi, the world's first and only Tulu community center, located in IndiaBulls Mega Mall. During the event, Shetty emphasized the importance of Dasara as a precursor to the major festival of Deepavali, encouraging everyone to shine like new lamps.

He mentioned that there are possibilities for the grand construction of a Tulu Bhavan in Baroda in the near future, which would serve as a center for revitalizing new life within the community.

Under the guidance of honorary president Dayanand Bontro, the celebration created a festive atmosphere by showcasing religious and cultural grandeur. Members presented fresh paddy, vegetables, and new crops offered by local farmers, while Chetan Salian brought the Kadiru to the Chavadi, marking the festival with traditional purification rituals.

The event saw participation from over 300 members, with Karthik Gowda being honored by the Sangha's president. Women led devotional singing, and prominent members, including Balachandra Gowda, K Madhava Shetty, Madan Kumar Moodigere, Krishna Shetty, Dinesh Shetty, Kusuma Jayaram Shetty, and Jayanti Haleyangadi, were in attendance.

Secretary Balakrishna A Shetty welcomed everyone and hosted the programme, while honorary treasurer P Balachandra Gowda delivered the vote of thanks.
